Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)

TCM is an ancient approach to health that focuses on symptoms and diseases as a reflection of physical, mental, emotional, and energetic imbalances. The body will return to its natural state of health once balance is achieved. Acupuncture is one of several treatments used to address these imbalances. Our physicians are trained and licensed in the State of Arizona to practice acupuncture.

How does it work?

Qi is the term used to describe the energy that flows throughout body. Qi travels through various meridians, which are channels of energy that connect your organs and travel throughout the body.

Disease occurs when Qi becomes stagnant and cannot flow freely throughout the body nourishing our vital organs. Acupuncture works by promoting the flow of Qi through the body’s meridians.

What to Expect from Acupuncture Treatment

In order to prescribe the best treatment, your naturopathic doctor must first arrive at an accurate TCM diagnosis. This is done by looking at your tongue, feeling your pulse, and identifying symptom patterns. This will allow your doctor to identify deficiencies, excesses, stagnation, and other imbalances in order to tailor treatment specifically to you.

Condition it can treat

  • Allergies
  • Anxiety or depression
  • ADD or ADHD
  • Back, neck, or joint pain
  • Brain fog/Cognitive decline
  • Cardiovascular issues (poor circulation, high blood pressure)
  • Fatigue
  • Infertility
  • Insomnia
  • Menstrual Irregularities
  • Migraines or headaches
  • Neurological issues (Numbness and tingling, Bell’s Palsy)
  • Rashes or hives
  • Respiratory Issues (Asthma, Bronchitis, COPD)

What does it feel like?

Acupuncture needles are sterile and disposable to insure patient and doctor safety. They are very thin, so you might not even feel their insertion. If you do, common sensations might feel like a pinch, pressure, vibration, itch, or slight burning. These sensations reflect a movement of Qi in the area, which is the ultimate goal!

How often do I need treatment?

Depending on your condition, treatments may vary from 2-4 treatments for acute to 2-3 treatments per week for 3-6 weeks for chronic. Then routine treatment for maintenance or flare up of chronic conditions. We offer various packages to best accommodate your needs.
